The Chromodorididae is a large and diverse group of colourful sea slugs. Most are found in the tropics, although there are a few colder water representatives. Currently, 17 genera are included in the family, and diversity is centred in the Indo-west Pacific. There is only a small amount known about the phylogenetic relationships within the group, and we are using DNA sequence data to examine the following:
How are the basal genera related to each other, and to the rest of the family?
Are the genera monophyletic? Did multiple genera invade different oceans?
What are the affinities of the monotypic genera?
